WHAT IS BSC?

CLOTHING MADE IN MEXICO UNDER A FAIR MAQUILA MODEL.

Básicos de México was born out of a genuine concern about the way in which the clothes we consume today are produced.

We guarantee a quality fabric made in Mexico and a fair maquila model where we partner with small family maquilas to ensure that whoever collaborates with us is treated with dignity, fairly paid and valued for their work. We go beyond being a clothing brand.

WHY ARE WE CONCERNED?

Global clothing consumption has increased 500% since 1990. Today fashion is within our reach more than ever. We have access to thousands of brands that offer us new products every week at super affordable prices. These prices have been achieved because the brands have taken their production to developing countries.

By outsourcing the production of garments, costs drop drastically since they are produced in countries where the working conditions of workers are not guaranteed and wages are very low. Working hours exceed 12 hours and wages are less than 3 dollars a day.

It is estimated that 1 in 6 people alive today work in the fashion industry. It is the most labor-dependent industry in the world.

An example of the seriousness of the situation is the collapse of the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh in 2013. 1,138 people died and 2,500 were injured, making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history. There were 5 maquilas in Rana Plaza manufacturing clothing for global brands. The victims were mainly young women.
